dora and diego design by JEN LESSINGER OPTION 1
WHAT SHE DID Jen was inspired by the way Leah’s
photos created a niche for her journaling. She
imitated the decorative edge at the top of the
original with a scalloped border.
WHAT WE LIKED Jen digitally arranged her photos
on a 91∕2t81∕ 2" canvas and added black borders
around each shot. She printed them out as one and
layered her journaling strips and accents on top.
WHAT YOU CAN LEARN Take your journaling
directly from a blog entry. Jen wrote her blog when
the details were fresh in her mind. She broke up
the text on orange and yellow strips and numbered
her two favorite memories along with the
corresponding photos.

OPTION 2 he is 6 design by RHONDA BONIFAY
WHAT SHE DID Rhonda followed the original’s basic design
but downsized it to an 81∕2t11" format and rounded the corners
of her photo mat. She stuck to a solid cardstock background
instead of using patterned paper.
WHAT WE LIKED The large red “ 6” placed on the gray block
balances the red side of Rhonda’s layout nicely. Her striped
strip coordinates with her son’s sweater and adds a small
punch of color.
WHAT YOU CAN LEARN Give yearly events a fun twist with
creative photos. Rhonda had her son hold up six fingers for
a photo at his sixth birthday party. You could make this a
tradition every year to create a fun birthday album.
SOURCES Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper. Patterned paper:
American Crafts (red), KI Memories (blue, stripe). Fonts: Roselyn
(off the Internet). Stickers: American Crafts (letters), Making Memories
(words). Die cuts: KI Memories (“ 6”), Making Memories (stars). Buttons: Autumn
Leaves. String: Scrapworks.
