design by BECKY NOVACEK
Becky’s page reflects the change of focus
in her and her husband’s lives now that they
have an empty nest.
TIPS
• Go small. Her loose collage features index
prints from several photo shoots with her
husband. Becky snipped the edges of her
prints with scissors to give the page a
homespun feel.
• Repurpose. For a cost-e ective approach,
Becky repurposed found items, such as the
rickrack and ledger paper.

1 last day
design by JEN JOCKISCH
To celebrate her mother-in-law’s last day at
work before retiring, Jen created a youthful
page with a cheerful vibe to represent her
fresh start as a retiree.
TIPS
• Distress. Jen tore and rolled the edges of
her patterned-paper strips to give them
dimension as she layered them on the
page. A pencil makes rolling the
paper easier.
• Plant it. Jen poked brads through her
buttons and crafted leaves from folded
ribbon for her quirky flowers.
