1 family expansion
design by JEN LESSINGER
When her unexpected pregnancy
turned out to be twins, Jen
journaled her feelings about adding
babies number four and five to her
growing family.
TIPS
SOURCES Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper.
Font: Century Gothic. Stickers: Little Yellow
Bicycle. Digital elements: New Growth No. 3
by Katie Pertiet. Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3. • Write on top. Jen layered tone-
on-tone digital accents under her
journaling to emphasize the idea of her
expanding family tree. When printing
journaling over a dark color, make sure
your text is legible. Jen chose a thick
white type to stand out against her
green background.
• Try texture. Flocked letter stickers and
a border add softness with minimal
e ort. Jen designed most of her
page digitally, then added textured
embellishments after printing.
2 to get me to you
design by LESLIE LIGHTFOOT
Waiting for an adoption can be a long
and stressful process. Leslie shared her
thoughts on this powerful layout.
TIPS
• Share with color. The color choices of
Leslie’s layout set the tone: pink for
her yet-to-be-met daughter and yellow
for hope. All colors have meanings, so
use di erent hues to add subliminal
messages to your page.
• Look for layers. Weaving layers of
paper over the photo and under the
journaling gives the layout more depth.
SOURCES Patterned paper: Sonburn (floral),
KI Memories (pink, gray), American Crafts
(yellow). Fonts: Bickham Script Pro (script
lettering), Calibri (journaling) o the Internet. Die cut:
Sonburn. Chipboard accents, ribbon: Autumn Leaves.
Gems: Creativity Inc. Punches: EK Success.
